Men's Ministry

With a new direction and energy, the Men's Ministry of Christ Community Church, known as Iron Works, is striving to make a difference in the lives of men throughout the River Region. Below are just a few of the many activities available for men to CONNECT with others, serve their COMMUNITY, and bring about CHANGE in their spiritual lives.
Connection
Athletic Teams- Throughout the year the men of Christ Community Church field athletic teams which play in the area leagues. in the past, these have both included softball and basketball.
Other Special Events- There are numerous events held during the year depending on the interests of the men participating in Iron Works. In the past the men have gone to Montgomery Biscuits baseball game as a group and pigged out at Boxcar buffet. These men are known to have steak cookouts and even a day of fishing and skeet shooting on the farm. Future events include possible camping and whitewater rafting trips.

Community
Short-term Foreign Missions- The men go on an international mission trip once a year for a construction project, usually a church or a residence.
Campus Maintenance Team- The church facilities and grounds need maintenance and occasional repairs. The men of our church meet periodically on a Saturday morning to trim shrubs, pull vines, spread pine straw or mulch, paint, make repairs, and do whatever else needs attention.
Community Service Projects- Iron Works plans a service project lasting a half or a full day most months of the year. In the past Iron Works has built a wheelchair ramp for a cancer patient, put up a fence, done construction work at a halfway home for women, and various other projects to benefit people inside and outside our faith family.
Change
Annual Retreat- In February of each year, the men of the church spend part of a weekend having a spiritual retreat away from Montgomery. In addition to an outside speaker, who instructs and inspires our men, there is also time for communion, singing, some great meals, and basketball/ping pong/pool/etc. One aspect of the annual retreat most often commented on is a special time of prayer for one another. Many men report being delivered from various forms of bondage, sin issues, and sickness at these retreats.

The Crucible- On the second Tuesday of every month (except December), our men gather from 7:00-8:00 pm to have a short worship time, to hear a great speaker, and to find out details about upcoming events and projects designed specifically for men.

Monday Morning Men's Prayer- On Mondays of each week, the men of our church meet at 6:45 am for prayer. Christ Community purposes to be a praying church, and believes God will do amazing things in His men, Iron Works, and the church when men cry out to Him on a regular basis. Prayer dismisses at 7:30 so men can get to work on time.
The Foundry- At 6:00 on Wednesday evenings, a small group consisting entirely of men meets for study and prayer at the church. Currently The Foundry is discussing the book, "No More Christian Nice Guy." On months with a fifth Wednesday, the men meet at a local Mexican restaurant for food and fun.
Friday Morning Men's Bible Study- Friday mornings at 6:30 another small group of men meet at Chick-Fil-A for breakfast and Bible Study. These guys have discussed such topics as Christian Principles from the New Testament, currently consisting of 1 Peter. They also make time to pray with and for one another.
Men are critically important to the spiritual health and ministry of Christ Community Church. Our vision is to disciple men – men who are called to walk with Christ, equipped to live like Christ, and sent to work for Christ.
