I am still recuperating from this last week's winter retreat. It was a great time filled with paintball, prayer, praise, and pig's feet! Sleep depravation is an understatement after ringing in the New Year with the students.

Our theme for this year was "UNITE". We discussed that true unity in the body of Christ results in: fear of God, loving others, and leading others. This concept of unity is one that will carry with us through 2009 as we love and serve those within our community. 

UNITE was birthed out of the decision to create our own winter retreat for the students instead of attending a "Big Name" event this year. The student ministry team put a lot of time, work, and effort into pulling off this event, but it was well worth it. The time spent with our own students by creating our own schedule and programs was priceless. It was truly a blessing, as a leader, to see our students UNITE in love and purpose, and to be part of a team of volunteers who used their gifts and gave up the comforts of home to serve and love the students of CCSM. All around, I saw students and adults...UNITE!
